Man Utd fans report club to OFT- 20 Nov 2008 00:00:00

The official Manchester United Supporters Trust has complained to government watchdog the Office of Fair Trading over the club’s treatment of season ticket holders.

Some supporters are unhappy that when renewing their season tickets, they are charged for FA Cup and Champions League tickets whether they want them or not.

As a result the Manchester United Supporters Trust wants the OFT to investigate whether the club have abused their market position.

In the past, United have defended their automatic cup ticket scheme (ACT) with the club now allowing some opt-outs, for example from Carling Cup matches, following widespread anger towards the scheme among fans.

The OFT will now decide whether to investigate the complaint fully.
