With the Guinness Premiership Final signalling the end of another successful season, Mark McCafferty, Chief Executive of Premier Rugby, discusses the future for domestic rugby union.

Mark McCafferty, Chief Executive, Premier Rugby

Mark McCafferty joined Premier Rugby as Chief Executive in August 2005 taking over the role from Howard Thomas, the previous Chief Executive of over six years, who announced in March his intention to step down at the end of that season.
 
McCafferty joined Premier Rugby with a strong commercial, operational and financial background and extensive experience of consumer brands.

His early career was with Midland Bank International before he joined Thomas Cook Group where he spent eleven years, including seven years heading up North America.

In 1998 McCafferty became Chief Executive of Avis until the end of 2003, since when he has been involved in private investment opportunities.
 
McCafferty is married with three sons. He is an Associate of the Institute of Banking, speaks French and German and is a keen follower of all sport. McCafferty has retained his Non-Executive Director roles on the boards of HMV Group plc and Umbro plc respectively.
